April 2021 Reads

Continuing right on schedule, April 2021 Reads consisted of A Natural History of Dragons, the first of The Memoirs of Lady Trent series, and The Border Keeper, the first in the Mkalis Cycle. Both had completely different writing styles, yet both were entertaining in their own ways.

Have you had the chance to read for pleasure yet this year? Leave a comment letting me know what you’re currently reading, what you’d like to read next, or what you’d think I might like to read. I’m constantly looking for new reading material!

1. The Natural History of Dragons: A Memoir of Lady Trent by Marie Brennan - Having been obsessed with dragons for most of my life, the idea of reading an fictional autobiography by a woman pioneering the discovery and studying of dragons was right up my alley. It was fascinating to read about the dragons themselves with a lively character narrating the story and her adventures. I did not expect the ending, but it seems like it’ll tie into the following novel nicely.

2. The Border Keeper by Kerstin Hall - This novel left me with more questions than answers, in an extraordinary descriptive and imaginary fantastical underworld. I loved reading every little detail of every little thing, some disturbing, but mostly beautiful. It was really thought provoking, and I felt like the ending arrived too quickly so was left unsure and a bit confused.
