Thank you for reading, and thank you for your support!

Growing up, my mom would bring me to the library at least once a week. There was a summer program she enrolled me in called Reading Is Fundamental, or RIF for short. I loved going to the library for this program! For every four books I read, I could choose one free book from their free collection box and bring it home with me!

I didn't read just because I wanted a free book though; I read, and still read, because I love to travel.

I have travelled to meet Pippi Longstocking and her pet monkey. I have travelled to watch Anne with an E break her slate over Gilbert's head and having the two eventually getting married. I have travelled to Thornfield, Castle Rock, Westlands, Discworld, Wuthering Heights, the Silk Road, Middle Earth, Hogwarts, and more places than I can remember, all from the comfort of my reading nook. It's truly amazing!

Since I continue to read, albeit not as often as I'd like, I thought I'd start a series of posts chronicling what I've read recently, and what I'd like to read in the future.

Please, come travel along with me. Leave a comment letting me know what you’re currently reading, what you’d like to read next, or what you’d think I might like to read. I’m constantly looking for new reading material!

Currently Reading

1. The Gangs of New York: An Informal History of the Underworld by Herbert Asbury - After watching the movie again on Netflix, and also being a bit homesick, I picked up this book from my local library to discover the history of New York. It’s fascinating to find what used to be Five Points, no longer really exists in modern day New York City. I’m only a chapter in, so I’ll review this further when I’ve finished reading it.

2. The Song of Seven by Tonke Dragt - The colorful cover piqued my interest! I’m following Frans van der Steg, a school teacher, on his mysterious adventure, and it’s been a fun read so far. The chapters are short, the characters are entertaining, and I find myself flipping through the pages to see what happens next!

3. Groovy Joe: Ice Cream & Dinosaurs by Eric Litwin, illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld - Eric Litwin wins again with my daughter in this catchy book about Groovy Joe, a musical dog, who loves to share! We have been reading it nonstop since borrowing this one from the library a few weeks ago.

4. The Nuts Keep Rolling! by Eric Litwin, illustrated by Scott Magoon - This one has been another favorite this month. My daughter loves to roll her fists in circles whenever the words “Keep Rolling!” pop up on the pages!

To Be Read

5. The Red Sphinx: A Sequel to The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas - I loved reading The Three Musketeers, as well as Twenty Years After. I’m excited to travel back to France again!

6. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke - I had started reading this book years and years ago when it was first published, but it fell to the wayside, even though I enjoyed the writing style and the storyline. I plan on picking it up again to see if the magic can be reawakened.

7. Dracul by Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker - Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a classic of its time. I’m curious to read the prequel which is co-authored by Stoker’s great-grandnephew!
